tracking memory

Through animation, this project exposes several video essays, which comprehend metaphors of the emigrant experience. The dialogue is composed of written essays of emigrants of various nationalities, who reside in the cities of Taipei and Mexico. Through the use of anecdotes and stories told in their mother language, the narrators describe physical characteristics of their homeland as well as their transition to new countries, highlighting concepts such as border, culture and territory within a global context. The graphic materials oscillate between aerial photographs (such as satellite images), maps, film and photo archives, drawings, etc, denoting an abstract idea of space. With these visual elements, animations reconstruct field connections, relationships, extensions, ideas and references of their journey.
